Justin Bieber Is So Famous Even His Stylist Has Haters

$

Certain levels of fame are nearly impossible to comprehend. Like Justin Bieber. He's someone so famous that it seems like people are taking shots on him in the verses of new songs. When someone he hasn't dated in years puts out a song , we assume it's about him.

Hell, he seemingly launched Hailey Baldwin's career by going on vacation with her. We know that's insane to say, but had you ever head of Hailey Baldwin before she was linked with Justin Bieber? She was the definition of a "Who?" Now, she's the face of a huge Guess campaign and one of those models knocking on the door of superstardom. We know about her dad, but he's not even one of the better-known Baldwins. Also, she was steadily booking better and better gigs, but that vacation with Bieber really launched her into the stratosphere. We can't prove any of this, just saying.

Now, Bieber has reached a new level of renown. He's so famous that his stylist, Karla Welch, has haters. Look at the photo she posted to her Instagram, capturing the comments left for her.

You guys, you know you've made it when you've got haters 🙌🏻

A post shared by Karla Welch (@karlawelchstylist) on

Ok, everyone take a deep breath. A stylist doesn't, like, jam her clients into their clothes like recalcitrant toddlers. We will allow that Bieber's stylist has occasionally probably had to ask him to put on any clothes at all, but that's neither here nor there. The stylist's job is to figure out what the star likes and give the stars pieces that fall within those general parameters. If Bieber likes overalls, he will wear them to meet the prime minister. If he doesn't like his stylist, he will fire his stylist.

So let's all chill out on yelling at random people because we don't like a hoodie. Also, don't harass people online. Come on now. We're all adults.

Trump Lifts Protections For Trans Students In School Bathrooms

Despite pleas from parents, educators, and LGBTQ advocates across the country (and even opposition from controversial Education Secretary Betsy DeVos), President Trump has lifted protections for trans students in school bathrooms. It's a move we've been dreading for a while — but being unsurprising doesn't make it any less terrible.

Today, AP reports the Trump administration has removed President Obama's federal guidelines allowing trans teens to use the school bathroom that corresponds with their gender. The Justice and Education departments wrote a letter to schools with the directive, providing no explanation other than that the "earlier directive caused confusion and lawsuits over how it should be applied."

The letter from the Education and Justice departments added that this removal will not affect anti-bullying safeguards in schools. One can only hope.

This comes less than two weeks after major LGBTQ groups rallied to plead with DeVos and Attorney General Jeff Sessions to uphold these valuable protections for trans students — some of America's most vulnerable kids. "Most importantly, these guidance documents have been instrumental in providing schools with the tools they need to protect the health, safety, and educational opportunities of millions of students," the advocates wrote of Obama's guidelines.

We have to wonder: Could this unwarranted removal of such crucial protections be a way that the Republican administration is testing our limits? Are Trump, DeVos and company trying to gauge how we'll react when they go after even more Obama-era protections (like the Title IX guidelines on dealing with sexual assault on campus)?

One thing is clear: The fight to protect our country's kids is only beginning.

Jimmy Kimmel Is Determined To Make Sure Matt Damon Doesn't Win An Oscar

Jimmy Kimmel plans to use his powers as the host of this year's Oscars to accomplish an important goal: preventing Matt Damon from getting an award — or at least getting acknowledged for any victory.

"I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that he doesn't win or doesn't know that he won," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "My goal is to keep him offstage."

Damon produced Manchester by the Sea, which is nominated for Best Picture. Casey Affleck won a Golden Globe for his performance in the movie. He's also nominated for an Oscar for the film, along with his co-stars Michelle Williams and Lucas Hedges.

Obviously, Kimmel has no control over the winners — and even if he did, he's not being serious. He and Damon have been taking jabs at each other for years, most recently with Damon joking that he's the father of Kimmel's child. Damon told Entertainment Tonight he hopes "horrible things" happen to Kimmel as a host.

Kimmel also told The Hollywood Reporter about his performance, saying his jokes will respond to the news and the Trump administration is fair game. But so is any politician, he told Vanity Fair. "Over the course of my career I’ve managed to speak to [red and blue state voters] at once, maybe sometimes in different ways."

He's going to record a sketch before the show, a custom Billy Crystal started. But that's not the only part of Kimmel's performance Crystal inspired. He also gave him some advice on his routine. "One very important thing he told me is that you have to play to the room, and not necessarily the people watching at home," Kimmel told Vanity Fair. "The people sitting in front of you are the people you have to make laugh."

If Kimmel does end up sharing the stage with Damon, we're sure their antics will succeed in that.

This Rapper Punched A Guy In The Face During A Concert For Alleged Sexual Harassment

A lot of us have wanted to punch a sexist dude in the face at some point. But Destiny Frasqueri, the rapper known as Princess Nokia, actually did it, according to  The Cambridge Student.

The incident reportedly happened while she was performing at Cambridge University. During her third song, she noticed someone in the audience "mouthing dirty obscenities like, show me your tits," she told the Cambridge blog  FLY.

According to the man, his words were actually "Let's go, Abigail." Someone else in the crowd told him that was the artist's name, he told The Cambridge Student.

Obviously, these stories do not line up.

Whatever was said, she then allegedly asked "are you being disrespectful?" then spilled a drink onto him and jumped into the audience to punch him not once, not twice, but three times. After she got back up, Frasqueri announced, "that's what you do when a white boy disrespects you." She left the stage after that, never making it past three songs.

Some students accused her of attacking the audience member needlessly, but others heralded her as a hero. "@princessnokia just punched a white guy in the face for disrespecting at a gig in Cambridge and walked offstage I am LIVING YES GIRL," one woman wrote in a tweet with over 400 likes. Another witness called it "uconic."

Princess Nokia told  FLY afterward that she "does not condone violence" but deemed it necessary in this case because she felt unsafe. She also reiterated that she had a "zero tolerance” policy for “instances of sexism and sexual harassment."

Echoing an observation she opened her concert with — that there were "so many beautiful women of color in here tonight" — she told FLY to "let the women of color know she was sorry" that she couldn't finish the show.

Billie Lourd Posts Adorable Throwback Of Mom Carrie Fisher

$

Billie Lourd must have a treasure trove of amazing images of herself with her late mother, Carrie Fisher. She gave us just a small taste Wednesday when she posted a picture of Fisher holding a baby Billie while the pair are exiting a limousine. Previously, she had posted another snap of the pair in the back of another limo and spoken about their relationship.

We almost like this limo picture the best.

✨😇✨

A post shared by Billie Lourd (@praisethelourd) on

Let's break down why. First of all, it's a frame within a frame within a frame. That's fun for fans of post-modernism, or fans of framework well done. Second, they're in a limo in a non-normal limo setting. A limo in the woods? We really only see that in movies about murder in the upper crust and hoity-toity bridesmaids parties. That's a classic non-limo limo location.

Third, we have their pose. It looks like Fisher is telling Lourd something about the world. In a way, she must be. Or the image tells us really all that we need to know. That she's sitting on her mother's lap exiting a limousine tells us that she's already internalized more about the realities of fame than you or I ever will. (Note: Ignore previous sentence if you are extremely famous. If the note applied to you, please give me one million dollars.)

So we have fame passed down from mother to daughter in a naturalistic setting while they're being transported through it in the height of luxury. My friends, that's classic juxtaposition. That's the stuff that capital-A Art is made of. And then once you start drilling down into the frames within frames, and how limos frame the famous as being worth of fame by the sheer space they occupy on the roads, the sheer excess of car, you get into commentary territory.

Good pic.

This Boy Lost A Race For The Most Adorable Reason

Somebody needs to teach this child about what it means to be a competitor. The 2-year-old Imoh Umoren II came in fourth in a race because he ran off the track to go hug his father, also named Imoh Umoren.

Umoren tells HuffPo that it was his son's first race, but that they had been training in the front yard. In fact, that training may have been the reason that Imoh came in fourth. When he saw his father taking a picture, his instincts took over.

“I think part of it may be that he always ran into my arms while we were doing our little training at home,” Umoren told the publication. “But he’s a bit of a hugger, and maybe to him, that is a natural ending to a race: run into daddy’s arms.”

The father tried to correct him, but to no avail.

“I was telling him to stop, but he couldn’t figure out why he had to,” Umoren told the publication. “He ran towards me giggling, so I had to explain to him he had to get to the finish line. I don’t think he realized it was a competition!”

Umoren said that he is careful to emphasize the link between himself and his son.

"I think father-son bonding is pretty important. I didn't really have a relationship with mine cos he died too early and emotionally, I struggled growing up," the elder Umoren told Konbini. "You know having that solid rock you can go to for advice about work, women and life. So I think it's important for a father to be in the life of their kid and raise them well."

But not to worry. The younger Imoh later found glory on the track and field. He placed third in a subsequent race, leading his dad to post the following. Kid's got a future.

The Fashion Week Trends That Will Show Up In Fast-Fashion

We're not calling ourselves fortune-tellers or anything, but we've gotten pretty damn good at predicting which runway styles will make their way into the mainstream — as in, the Zaras and H&M's of the world — in no time. It's a certain combination of freshness yet accessibility that indicates a trend is going to be ubiquitous.

Just this time last year, we had inklings that puffer coats would blow up (they did!), and knew that every street style star would be sporting this blazer silhouette(it's happening). We spotted that forced off-shoulder look before every blogger started doing it, and even went so far as to say that velour tracksuits would come back (hence the Vetements collab, and now Juicy Couture for Urban Outfitters).

This season, we're at it again. To us, it's like a little game to place our bets on the runway that are sure to catch on, and we want you to join in on the fun. Click on to see the trends we'll be keeping an eye out for come fall, and check back as we update this slideshow from the international fashion weeks, too.

Fish-Scale Sequins

We're feeling a bit nostalgic for that Rainbow Fish book we read as kids, because the sequins this season are very under-the-sea.

Bear Sleeves

The jacket silhouette you'll be wearing come fall is all about the sleeve interest. Voluminous, furry sleeves are attached to more structured, body-skimming silhouettes for dramatic contrast that makes you look like a teddy bear in the best way.

The Beauty Buys That Give Our Editors Serious Results

If you think Refinery29 's beauty editors just sit around playing with lipstick all day, well... you wouldn't be entirely wrong. Sampling products is indeed one of the perks requirements of the job, and we try a hell of a lot of stuff.

So for us, hitting the pan on our favorite eyeshadow or finishing the last drop of a body wash is rare. When we do though, that means the product is seriously stellar — like so good we'll resort to scooping out the last bits with a Q-tip or cutting open a bottle with scissors.

Over the past few months, our editors have been dutifully collecting their #empties (from lip balms to rich body creams) — and we've got a serious haul of products to show for it. Ahead, learn more about the 41 beauty buys that have carried us through the winter.

Alix Tunell, Senior Beauty Editor

"This empties batch is me in a nutshell: I love cheeky packaging, indie brands, and derm-backed, results-driven skin care. A handful of these — 3Lab, SkinMedica, Living Proof, and Sara Happ — are tried-and-true favorites, but the majority were fun new things I didn't expect to love as much as I did."

Photographed by Erin Yamagata.

"Was this the most thirst-quenching, moisturizing balm of my life? Far from it. Was it the cutest thing to keep on my desk and absentmindedly reach for every 15 minutes? You bet. I couldn't get enough of it, in large part because it smells like the sugary soda I've never allowed myself to drink. "

Lip Smacker Sprite Cup Lip Balm, $3.95, available at Lip Smacker.

"I love this organic, nature-inspired line; I feel like I'm being really nice to my skin whenever I use the products. This scrub is perhaps a little too gritty and rough if you're sensitive, but it was great for exfoliating rough patches on my heels and legs. Plus, it smells so fresh and citrus-y."

Captain Blankenship Lime & Coconut Salty Sweet Body Scrub, $32, available at Captain Blankenship.

"The word 'obsessed' is overused, to say the least, so I'll just say this tinted balm is pretty damn perfect and I love it a whole lot. It smells like sweet, fruity candy (I promise, I don't like sugary gourmand perfumes — just balms). It's also so buttery and leaves this really pretty, dark fuchsia stain behind. I used it approximately 75 times per day and it lasted for months, so yeah, it's worth it."

Revlon Kiss Balm Lip Balm in Berry Burst, $4.99, available at Ulta Beauty.

"There's nothing new I can say about this dry shampoo — and that's a phrase I wrote the last 10 times I raved about it. I go through it like I go through water bottles because it's the only product that makes my dirty hair look better than my clean hair after a blowout. Seriously."

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo, $22, available at Birchbox.

"The classic La Mer cream is lovely, but far too heavy for my skin. I figured I'd have to wait until I was old and super-dry to really appreciate it — and then the brand launched this lotion. It's so light and fast-absorbing it almost feels like a serum. But it's expensive as hell, and when I walked into my bathroom one morning to find the guy I was dating using it, well, I wasn't exactly nice."

La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion, $260, available at Nordstrom.

"I didn't find this base to be as light and sheer as it claims to be — which was a good thing. It's just the happy medium between a too-light tinted moisturizer and a medium-coverage foundation and never creases or pills by 5 PM."

Bare Escentuals BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream, $29, available in February at Bare Escentuals.

"This spray contains soothing lavender, hydrating coconut oil, and anti-microbial tea tree oil, so it's the perfect post-shave toner and moisturizer in one."

Under Aurora Coconut Oil Spray, $8, available at Under Aurora.

"In my opinion, this serum is the closest you'll get to topical Botox. It contains human growth factor, smells funky, and looks like red jelly, so it's not without its critics, but for my skin, it's youth in a jar. I have to remind myself to only use one pump morning and night because I'd bathe in it if I could."

SkinMedica TNS Essential Serum, $281, available at SkinStore.

"We've said it before: You don't need to buy a lip scrub when you can easily make one at home. But if you're lazy, want to treat yourself, or have cash to blow... go for the Sara Happ version. It tastes like heaven (I can't advise that you eat it, but I also can't tell you I don't lick it off my lips in the shower every morning) and is thick and packed tight, which most aren't, so it doesn't separate and turn oily when you rub it on."

( Ed. Note: Sara Happ's Peony Lip Scrub was unfortunately limited-edition. Good thing the brand has many other versions!)

"This is another fountain-of-youth, ridiculously fast-acting cream. It dramatically smoothes texture, erases dullness, and heals minor superficial wounds (like when I pick between my brows) overnight — but those results will cost you almost a grand. Obviously, that's not an option for 99% of us, so try the still-splurgey-but-nearly-as-effective M Cream."

3LAB Super Cream, $875, available at 3LAB.

Kelsey Castañon, Beauty News Editor

"When it comes to beauty products, I'm admittedly noncommittal. I like to play the field with mascaras, shampoos, foundations, face creams, and more. That means I have to really, really love something to keep coming back to it — which only happens a handful of times every few months. But what can I say? When you know, you know."

Photographed by Erin Yamagata.

"I've gone through my fair share of gnarly cystic breakouts, meaning I've tried dozens and dozens of at-home acne treatments. But the one I always come back to is the one from Renée Rouleau. It really is magic."

Renée Rouleau Anti Cyst Treatment, $45.50, available at Renée Rouleau.

"I'm not usually a fancy body wash fan — drugstore works just fine for me, thanks — but what hooked me on this Sol de Janeiro sudser is its scent. Tropical, coconut-y — it's like I'm transported straight to the beach every time I step in the shower."

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian 4 Play Moisturizing Shower Cream-Gel, $25, available at Sephora.

"Believe it or not, finding an undereye cream that helps fade dark circles is no easy feat. It makes sense: You can’t technically get rid of shadows (there's a lot more to it, and actually has more to do with genetics than you might think), but this one does seem to make mine look brighter after a sleepless night. I'll take it."

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Cream, $48, available at Sephora.

"If you were to ask me the one beauty product people should be using (but don't), it's heat-protecting spray. Blow dryers and hot tools are the bane of your hair’s existence, and using one beforehand will save you… promise. This is the second bottle I’ve gone through from Kenra — not only does it protect my hair, it makes it look glossier than ever."

Kenra Blow-Dry Spray, $22, available at Ulta Beauty.

"Glossier released its super-hydrating face cream just when my skin needed it most: in the dead of winter. It's probably the fastest I've gone through a tub of moisturizer — it was that good."

Glossier Priming Moisturizer Rich, $35, available at Glossier.

"I live for a good micellar water, and this one from Garnier is one of the best IMO. It’s super gentle on my sensitive skin, but wipes away my long-wearing concealer in a pinch."

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, $8.99, available at Ulta Beauty.

Lexy Lebsack, Senior Beauty Editor

“These are a few products that I used through the winter, but since I live in L.A. they’re not really seasonal. In fact, I am realizing it’s more of an L.A. trend roll call: the perfect highlighter and my secret to properly healing new ear piercings, plus masks and treatments to combat sun exposure and hydrate my bleached hair. Man, I am such a cliché.”

Photographed by Erin Yamagata.

“Not to be dramatic, but this highlighter is everything and easily one of the most valued things in my makeup bag. The creamy formula is shimmery and far from subtle — I have no interest in a subtle highlight thank you very much — but it’s also easily diffused for day and blends into other makeup like a dream. This must be my third or fourth tube.”

Smashbox L.A. Lights Lip & Cheek Color, $29, available at Smashbox.

“This may have a bad name, but man is it an amazing product. I got seven piercings over the past year, bringing my collection into the double digits. My piercer Brian Keith Thompson gave me this stuff to help care for my ears — and it’s a major game changer. The fine mist of sterile solution deep cleans shampoo and product residue, dried gunk (gross, I know, but I’m just being honest), and anything else that could hang out near new piercings in a gentle, effective way."

NeilMed Wound Wash, $7.29, available at Walgreens.

“Part of my job is trying new things, so I rarely buy much of anything. This retinol, however, I splurge on. I don’t know if it’s the lactic acid, the retinol, or both, but my skin glows when I am using this nightly.”

Shani Darden Retinol Reform, $95, available at Shani Darden.

“Maybe it’s in my head, but I swear the pink Beautyblender makes me break out, so I switched to this dye-free option and I will never turn back. I don’t have to tell you how great this egg-shaped sponge is, so I’ll just say this: It’s the secret to perfect foundation. This one really needed a replacement — it was well-loved, to say the least.”

BeautyBlender Pure, $20, available at Sephora.

“I am recently obsessed with this gentle face wash. I'm already on my second bottle and I have my boyfriend hooked now, too! It’s gentle and effective, smells awesome, and makes my skin clean and fresh, but not dry. Winner!”

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Cleanser Daily Foaming Wash, $38, available at Sephora.

“I don’t know what’s in this stuff — it’s a mix of ingredients that claim to help repair your skin’s DNA — but I do know I am on my fourth jar and I cannot get enough. Slap it on for 20 minutes before bed, rinse off, and wake up to glowing skin."

RMD DNA Restoring Mask, $75, available at RMD.

“Cheap, effective, and tiny enough to not crowd your makeup bag, this clear gel checks all the boxes — and keeps my unruly brows in place.”

Mary Kay Brow Gel, $10, available at Mary Kay.

“I’m a snob when it comes to concealer and only recommend ones that slay the game: no creasing, no weird texture, no fading allowed. As you can tell I, quite literally, dug out the last bits of this one with a butter knife. (No shame in my game.) It checks all the boxes.”

NARS Concealer, $26, available at NARS.

“Massage this pre-shampoo treatment into ends and allow to sit for an hour or two (I apply it before I clean the house), then shampoo and condition as usual. Hair is smooth, shiny, and feels way more healthy. Man, I really need another bottle of this…”

Christophe Robin Moisturizing Hair Oil, $47, available at Sephora.

“After 20 minutes, this mask leaves my skin smooth and tingly, and almost a touch pink, but by morning it looks fresh and rested. Think of this as a night-before-a-big-event mask!”

La Mer The Intensive Revitalizing Mask, $165, available at Net-A-Porter.

Mi-Anne Chan, Beauty Writer

"This batch of empties, which just so happens to my third, totally reflects how I felt this winter: Parched and irritated. I have eczema and during the winter it gets pretty bad hence the onslaught of gentle creams and body washes. I also went through a lot of tried-and-true favorites in the past month and a few newbies, too."

"Anyone who knows me knows that I am a drugstore mascara gal. This one from Catrice is one of my favorites because it instantly lifts and volumizes my lashes. Plus, the tapered plastic brush head makes it really easy to grab every single lash."

Catric e Glamour Doll Volume Mascara Waterproof, $6.99, available at Ulta Beauty.

"Fellow eczema suffers, unite! This lighweight lotion features a mixture of sunflower, jojoba, and grape seed oils to condition the skin and colloidal oatmeal, calendula, and chamomile to soothe it. It won't completely eradicate your eczema, but it will instantly calm it."

Skinfix Daily Lotion, $14.99, available at Target.

"I went to Hawaii last year to test Tarte's Rainforest Of The Sea line in intense humidity. This liquid liner held up — even after hours of wear through treacherous activities like zip lining. Its itty-bitty tip makes it easy to etch on precise cat eyes, too."

Tarte Rainforest Of The Sea So Fine Micro Liner, $22, available at Sephora.

"SK-II's Facial Treatment Essence is hands-down one of the most expensive skin-care items I use regularly. I keep going back to it though because it seriously brightens my skin."

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence Travel Size, $99, available at Sephora.

"Pixi's Glow Tonic is a cheaper alternative and contains glycolic acid to gently exfoliate and aloe vera to soothe. When I don't use one of these two toners, my skin actually craves them."

Pixi Glow Tonic, $15, available at Target.

"Most shampoo-and-conditioner hybrids leave my hair feeling parched. This sulfate-free option one, though, lets me skip conditioner altogether. The best part is definitely its heavenly, warm-vanilla scent."

John Masters Organics Zinc & Sage Shampoo with Conditioner, $20, available at Ulta Beauty.

"This sweet almond oil- and shea butter-rich lip balm from First Aid Beauty doesn't just effectively condition lips, it also has a matte finish making it a great option to layer under lipsticks."

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Intensive Lip Balm, $20, available at Sephora.

"I've written many lengthy love letters to this oil so I won't bore you with all the minutia. In short, this lightweight oil keeps my skin feeling hydrated and balanced. It's also packed full of rosehip oil which helps minimize the appearance of my acne scars."

Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+, $36, available at Trilogy.

"I'm not a huge body wash fan (bar soap for life!) but I'd switch for this one. It never leaves my skin feeling tight or dry and its minty scent is insanely refreshing."

The Seaweed Bath Co. Eucalyptus & Peppermint Body Wash, $12.99, available at Target.

"I'm very, very picky when it comes to exfoliators. Many contain large granules that feel harsh and scratchy on my skin but the jojoba beads in this one are super gentle."

Pai Kakui & Jojoba Bead Skin Brightening Exfoliator, $44, available at Pai.

"I pretty much exclusively wear waterproof mascara so I go through cleansing oils really quickly. I have zero patience for oils that don't cut through hard-to-remove makeup fast and Shu Eumura makes some of my favorites."

Shu Uemura Porefinist Anti-Shine Fresh Cleansing Oil, $67, available at Shu Uemura.

Cat Quinn, Beauty Director

"I've traveled a lot the last few months, going through hoards of travel-sized products and free hotel toiletries that I usually leave behind at the end of my trip. But I've lugged these four winners to Ohio, Texas, Oklahoma, California, Copenhagen, Mexico, and Grand Cayman because I truly can't live without them. (And yes, that's a full-sized face wash that I had to check internationally because I am so addicted to it. Beauty editor problems.)

"You didn't really think this tiny bottle lasted through seven weekend trips did you? This is probably my eighth empty of the stuff — which smooths my unruly, thick, waist-length waves regardless of the climate I'm in. I never travel without it."

Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore Conditioner Travel Size, $18, available at Oribe.

"If I have limited space in my luggage, I can get by with ONLY packing this lip balm. It has serious moisturizing powers, making it great for a trip to the midwest in the dead of winter, for example. But the buildable, pretty pink stain makes it great as a statement lip for nights out in Tulum, too."

Givenchy Le Rouge Perfector Beautifying Lip Balm, $36, available at Sephora.

"It's almost embarrassing how many of these tubes I've gone through. I truly have not found another mascara better than it — you can read my long, rambling, essay about it here."

Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara, $24, available at Sephora.

"As you can tell, this cult-favorite cleanser got a sleek makeover, but the stuff inside hasn't changed — and thank goodness for that. The foaming wash transforms your crappy New York City sink into a full-blown Copenhagen spa. It smells incredible, feels like silky soft loveliness, and washes away every last speck of makeup and oil without making your face feel like sandpaper."

Ole Henriksen The Clean Truth Foaming Cleanser, $30, available at Sephora.

You Have To See This Video Of Kanye West Wearing Braces, Riding A Scooter & Rapping

Throughout the years, Kanye West has become an icon for many reasons — his songs, his family, his style, his attitude, and of course, his rapping skills.

And now we have a wonderful vintage video of the superstar to see how he was just as much of a ham in 2000 as he is in 2017.

The video, which is dated September 22, 2000, was recently unearthed and shared by a Twitter user Andrew Barber. It shows a very young and wide-eyed West rapping in a purple-grey suit, leaning on a scooter, and wearing braces. Talk about multitasking.

But in addition to the physical and attitude change West underwent in the past 17 years, it's also crazy to see and hear his rapping style then, versus now. He's so animated and you can see the hunger for success in his eyes. (It would be another three years before the public hears songs off of his debut album, The College Dropout.)

Mind you, he's only about 23 in the video and still very, very green to the music industry, but his confidence and ego are still palpable. Even when he's standing on a nerdy, yellow scooter. And wearing braces. He's also surrounded by an unidentified posse that seem to be vibing with his verse. He raps about "capris," being "more important than Michael Jordan," and, erm, "titties." Classic Kanye.

It's only a matter of time before West himself sees the video, and I hope he does something with this verse. Imagine a remix of old Kanye with new Kanye? He could also add in a little bit of old Kim talking with new Kim talking. That's some meta material right there.

Let's pour one out for old Kanye.

This Perfume Was Created For The Creepiest Reason

If you sit in a gray cubicle under a fluorescent light day after day, you might dream about working for a designer out of a 17th-century canal house in Amsterdam. It sounds idyllic — until you consider the potential ghosts living in the building. Do you think those trapped souls want to listen to sewing machines and clanking perfume bottles and arguments over creative vision all day? They do not — at least not the ones haunting the Viktor & Rolf atelier.

As Viktor Horsting tells it, when he and his design partner Rolf Snoeren came into the office, they were told by employees that the space was haunted. (Talk about company loyalty — we would have been clearing out our desks at the first sign of a spirit acting creepy.) "Several people said there was a phone ringing [with no one on the other line] and footsteps, so we got somebody in to get rid of all the negative energy in the house. She burned sage, walked around the building, and stuck a feather on each door."

The sage, Horsting says, smelled so good, they decided to create a fragrance around it. And so, along with five other scents all part of Viktor & Rolf's latest Magic Collection, Sage Spell was born.

It's a great story, and the smell of a burning bundle of herbs is very pleasant when dispersed throughout the house, but we worried the note, combined with wormwood (the stuff in absinthe), might make our skin smell like a Portland gift shop.

We shouldn't have. It's clean and crisp, lighter than expected, and worked just like aromatherapeutic lavender on our mood, Zen-ing us out for a few minutes in the middle of the work day. Then again, the R29 offices aren't haunted (we don't think), so here's hoping the perfume casts a powerful enough spell to clear the fashion house ghosts and calm our Dutch friends. If not, there's always legal marijuana there.

Viktor & Rolf Magic Collection Sage Spell, $220, available at Saks in March 2017.

The Secret Lives Of The "Perfect Couples" Living In Perfume Ads

This Is The Dating Deal-Breaker That's Dividing All Of Us

$

From bad TV taste to annoying pet peeves, we all have our relationship deal-breakers. But now, there's a dating deal-breaker that has divided nearly all of us: Donald Trump. Hate him or love him, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn't have an opinion, and it's showing in our dating lives.

According to data from OkCupid, daters' views on Trump, whether positive or negative, were considered a major deal-breaker amongst singles who are considering their potential matches. Last week, OkCupid released a new set of questions relating to issues that we're all talking about right now. Amongst the topics were the immigration ban, golden showers, and of course, Trump himself. And while the dating app reported that topics are marked as "important" by at least half of users who reply, 3/4ths of users rated these three topics as being essential to answer when seeking a match.

Upon simply asking, "Trump?" and giving a selection of responses, OkCupid found that 74% of users responded, "Hell no," 4% said "Hell yes," and the more muted responses of "yes" and "no" came in at 15% and 7% respectively.

While OkCupid has always had more liberal users, the discrepancy is pretty big. However, Trump was a deal-breaker for everyone, not just for more progressive users. Across party lines and genders, an overwhelming amount of people reported that a potential match's thoughts on the president were important to them.

Not only that, Trump and the new political issues coming to light in his administration were ranked as more important deal-breakers than more typical ones, such as smoking.

Some other findings?

Climate change was also a hot-button issue for everyone, with 81% of people saying that how a potential date responds to this issue is important.

And while Trump may be a deal-breaker, golden showers were not. Apparently, users were more likely to try out golden showers than to support Trump.

If you still had any doubts about whether or not politics really affects your life, here's proof that it may be more permeating than you think.

When Apple first announced the loss of the headphone jack with the new lightning connector-only iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, the change felt monumental, especially for those with a favorite pair of wired headphones.

While the ridiculous-sounding dongle still allows you to use whatever buds you prefer, there is one major frustration. With only one port, you can't listen to wired headphones and charge your phone at the same time. It's either power up, or rock on — but not both.

This 6-Month-Old Baby Can Hold A Better Plank Than You

How long can you hold a perfect plank? 30 seconds? A minute?

Well, prepare for this tiny, tiny baby to blow you out of the water. Rowan McGowan is only 6-months-old, cannot sit up on his own yet, but holds an impressive 34-second plank in a video posted to YouTube.

Rowan's mom, Dana, is a Buti yoga instructor in Kentucky, according to the Daily Mail, so it's no wonder his tiny little body can hold a plank more perfectly than most grown adults.

Throughout the video, Dana encourages her son saying, "Good plank buddy! Pull that core in tight."

"Keep going monkey," she tells him before stopping to wonder at this little human she's created. "You're amazing." And we have to agree.

Just look at his form! Only seconds after he drops the first plank, he gets right back up. When he drops one leg to the ground Rowan reminds us all of something very important when it comes to planks, and working out in general: Variation is key.

Or maybe he was just getting tired and needed a break, which is also important.

Either way, a plank that perfect definitely deserves all of the kisses little Rowan gets from his mom at the end of the video. Color us impressed.

Twitter Is Flipping Over Beyoncé's Coachella Cancellation

Yes, it's true. Beyoncé will not be performing at Coachella this year. AP broke the news this afternoon, and the festival's official Facebook released a statement explaining why the singer has pulled out:

Following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months, Beyoncé has made the decision to forgo performing at the 2017 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. However, Goldenvoice and Parkwood are pleased to confirm that she will be a headliner at the 2018 festival. Thank you for your understanding.

While the news isn't entirely surprising — by most estimates, she'll be at least halfway through her pregnancy by the time the Indio, California fest kicks off. (She was scheduled to headline the two Saturdays of the event, April 15 and 22.) There's also the minor detail that she's carrying twins. And we all know Queen B isn't one to half-ass anything. When's the last time you saw her give a low-key performance that didn't include vigorous dancing? She wasn't about to sit on a stool and coo gently.

Anyhow, understandably, people are quite upset. Many are furiously demanding refunds. A great number of fans are depressed. Others seem to be in total disbelief. We can always count on Twitter for hilarious (intentionally or not) reactions to bombshell news items like this. And the GIFs are just everything.

So please, take a look at how people are handling the news. It's not good. Well, unless you're this person: "So Beyoncé isn't going to be performing at Coachella anymore? I almost bought tickets. God really had my back and my bank account." Or this fortunate soul: "When u find out Beyoncé is headlining Coachella 2018 which u were planning on going to." In times like these, it's all about the silver linings, people.

Women's March Organizers Call For A Strike On March 8

This story was originally published on February 14, 2017.

If you attended the Women's March and are wondering what to do next to continue fighting for the causes you believe in, there's a strike you should know about. The organizers of the Women's March are planning a general strike — A Day Without A Woman — on March 8, which is International Women’s Day. They made the announcement on Twitter and Instagram today, hashtagging it #DayWithoutAWoman and #WomensMarch.

"In the spirit of women and their allies coming together for love and liberation, we offer A Day Without A Woman," says a statement from the Women's March. "We ask: Do businesses support our communities, or do they drain our communities? Do they strive for gender equity, or do they support the policies and leaders that perpetuate oppression?"

After the power and unity that came out of the January 21 marches, the organizers are ready to channel all the energy into action. Over the next few weeks, they will share more information about what specific actions you can take on March 8. Watch this space for updates and more details on what A Day Without A Woman will look like.

February 17: The Women's March organizers launch 17 days of action you can take leading up to the general strike. First up: #DivestDAPL and #GrabYourWallet. You can read more about these initiatives on the Women's March website.

February 23: The Women's March posted an update on A Day Without A Woman outlining the ways people can participate in the strike on March 8. These actions include taking the day off, avoiding shopping for a day (with exceptions for small, women- and minority-owned businesses), and wearing red in solidarity.

In the spirit of women and their allies coming together for love and liberation, we offer A Day Without A Woman. We ask: do businesses support our communities, or do they drain our communities? Do they strive for gender equity or do they support the policies and leaders that perpetuate oppression? Do they align with a sustainable environment or do they profit off destruction and steal the futures of our children? We saw what happened when millions of us stood together in January, and now we know that our army of love greatly outnumbers the army of fear, greed and hatred. On March 8th, International Women’s Day, let’s unite again in our communities for A Day Without A Woman. Over the next few weeks we will be sharing more information on what actions on that day can look like for you. In the meantime, we are proud to support Strike4Democracy's #F17 National Day of Action to Push Back Against Assaults on Democratic Principles. This Friday, February 17th, gather your friends, families, neighbors, and start brainstorming ideas for how you can enhance your community, stand up to this administration, integrate resistance and self-care into your daily routine, and how you will channel your efforts for good on March 8th. Remember: this is a marathon, not a sprint. #DayWithoutAWoman #WomensMarch

Kate Winslet & Leonardo DiCaprio Never Did Let Go

Ever since they appeared on the silver screen as bright-eyed young actors in Titanic, Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio have had a special place in our hearts and each other's lives. Since that 1997 film, the two have basically been #friendshipgoals, whether that means sharing the excitement of Oscar nominations and even starring in films together, like they did in Revolutionary Road. Last year, when Leo won his first Academy Award for The Revenant, Kate was right there with him (and the rest of us) cheering and clapping. Finally! As we approach this year's ceremony, we're sure to see the two chum it up again. In honor of their amazing Hollywood friendship, we've put together a few of our favorite clips from both DiCaprio and Winslet that prove that they'll never ever let each other go.

"In a lot of ways, Kate and I have really grown up in this industry together," DiCaprio said while promoting his film The Aviator. "We've been a support mechanism for each other for such a long period of time. We've been there for each other and helped guide each other."

"We're really lucky to have each other, because we've known each other for such a long time; we were really excited about how far we could go emotionally," Winslet said of working with DiCaprio again on Revolutionary Road. "And knowing that we have a certain trust level, there are no boundaries; we could keep pushing it and pushing it, and that was a real luxury to have that."

But if it's clips from Titanic that you're looking for, we've got plenty of beaded gowns, suspenders, and Irish dancing in our video, below. Watch as the two actors gush each other and show that even icebergs can't stop a friendship like this one.

Will NASA's Latest Discovery Mess With Your Horoscope?

$

Last night, news broke that NASA had found seven Earth-like planets orbiting a sun of their very own. This, of course, suggests that there really could be life out there besides us Earthlings, but here at Refinery29, we didn't just have the astronomical on our minds.

As with all things sky-bound, we had to wonder: Will this throw our astrological fate into jeopardy? Fear not, stargazers — this is one celestial issue that's pretty cut and dry.

Trappist-1 and its cute lil' exoplanets exist outside of our solar system — seriously, they are very, very far away. Since basically every earthbound discipline of astrology pertains only to our solar system, it's safe to say Trappist-1's system won't do a thing to our readings.

That said, don't feel bad if you wondered about this when you first heard the news. Never forget the Ophiuchus debacle of September 2016, in which NASA and astrologers the world over had to speak out and quiet our fears that we'd been reading the wrong horoscope all our lives. Can you blame us for being on the lookout for other cosmic shakeups?

Let this be a reminder, once and for all, that astrology and astronomy may come up against each other, but they rarely intermingle. Now that that's settled, we can turn our attention to theorizing what the horoscopes are like on these distant, Earth-like exoplanets.

L.A.'s Latest Nail Trend Is The Secret To A Long-Lasting Manicure

Negative space manicures are far from new — this we know — but the latest influx to hit Los Angeles' most on-trend fingers are far from expected. In fact, it's almost as if every manicure features a peek-a-boo element as of late. Cool-girl nail hotspots like Olive & June, Mars The Salon, and DTLA's newest, Base Coat, are turning out fresh takes on the style that you already love...and have probably pinned at some point, too.

The best part? The grow out is amazing. After all, isn't it tremendously annoying when your selfie-worthy, splurge-a-licious gel mani grows out without a chip, leaving an obvious line at your cuticle? Consider these innovative spins on the designs your pass to extend your wear time for a few more days — or even weeks. And with artwork like this, why would you rush to remove it?

There are plenty of looks to choose from, too. If your heart skews towards streamlined looks you'll dig a monochromatic half-dip in your go-to hue. Or, to add some shine, try a glitter-spiked tip. Want something intricate? A half moon line drawing is right for you.

Not on the West Coast? There's no need to drop everything and book a red-eye (unless you're just in dire need of some sun, then we can't blame you). Many of these styles can be done at your own disposal with tools that you already have and colors that are already in your collection. Just make sure you have the Scotch tape and Q-tips handy, for easier clean up. Or, bookmark this page for your next manicure appointment.

Ahead, four standout ways to wear a negative space manicure like a true Angeleno.

Watching Ina Garten Decorate This Chocolate Ganache Cake Is Totally Mesmerizing

It's been a couple month since we've gotten a fresh dose of Barefoot Contessa. The Food Network show is currently between seasons, which means we've had to make due with watching reruns whenever we can catch them and obsessively checking Ina Garten's Instagram for new video posts. Not only do we crave new recipes from her, but we also just want to hear her relaxing voice. Watching her expertly prepare a dish does wonders to calm us down and have us mesmerized. Lucky for us super fans, Garten posted a video to her Instagram today, and it's definitely enough to keep us hypnotized for a good long while.

The Food Network star's video starts with a shot of a shiny chocolate ganache cake that is so reflective, you can see Ina hovering over its surface. She then begins to pipe out lines of white icing across the cake. Once the lines are all dawn, the celeb chef takes the top of a knife and drags it through the icing to create an lovely pattern. The end result is stunning and the cake looks delectable once it's cut.

In the caption of the video, Ina writes, "Chocolate Ganache Cake with chevron decoration - looks professional but with a little practice it's really easy!!" We trust her words, especially since she's always given us reliable instructions in the past.

A post shared by Ina Garten (@inagarten) on

We're not the only ones who were completely captivated by the video. Many commenters have been leaving messages like, "I'm literally drooling watching this" and "My mouth is watering!" Of course, she shared the recipe, so we can recreate it at home or perhaps ask someone to make it for us while we watch. It might not be the same, but until Barefoot Contessa returns, it's all we've got.

The Super Weird Thing Women Are Convinced Taco Bell Will Do For Them

$

The night my brother's appendix burst, he ate at Olive Garden. Now, every time Olive Garden comes up in casual conversation he tells the story of his appendix and how he will NEVER EVER eat at Olive Garden again.

It seems kind of harsh to me. Olive Garden is in no way responsible for his appendicitis, and deep down he knows that, but soup, salad, and breadsticks will forever be linked in his mind to the night he had to get his appendix out.

We have to believe it's that same thought process that makes pregnant women believe that eating at Taco Bell will somehow induce labor, which is apparently a thing, Munchies reports.

A Munchies reporter found this super interesting thread on a mommy-to-be blog called What To Expect. The original poster, Elijahsmommy27, mentioned that her husband learned from a coworker that Taco Bell supposedly induces labor.

"How?? I have no stinking clue but I'm 40+2 so I'll try anything," she wrote. "Taco Bell it is."

She then asked other moms-to-be if they had heard or experienced anyone eating Taco Bell to make themselves go into labor. Some had and were convinced it actually works.

"Really? That's crazy," another poster wrote. "I had Taco Bell yesterday, unknowingly, and had my baby girl this morning! I guess it's worth a try!"

Others, however, are convinced it's not true.

"I call bs considering I eat Taco Bell a couple times a week haha," one wrote. We tend to be on the side of, "umm...probably not," as are the experts.

“I have never seen anything that supports [spicy foods] one way or another,” Terry Harper, MD, an OB/GYN, told WebMD.

Still, if you're really desperate to get the kid out ASAP, then it can't hurt. Even if it doesn't work, at least you got some tacos.
